Here are a few tips to get the most out of ATM using MS Word 4.0 and SuperSpool.
MICROSOFT WORD 4.0 PATCH
========================
This patch changes MS Word 4.0 so that it allows Fractional Widths on an Imagewriter. This is necessary for proper ATM spacing both on the screen and when printing.
After applying the patch, use the Commands... command to add Fractional Widths to the File menu. Now you can turn Fractional Widths on.
Always work on a copy of MS Word, not the original.
Fedit:
1) Open MS Word with Fedit.
2) Select the resource fork
3) Search for 0C6C 0001 370C 6722 302E 0014 4EAC
4) Replace the 6722 with 4E71.
5) Write the block
ResEdit:
1) Run ResEdit
2) Open Microsoft Word.
3) Open the PCOD resources.
4) Open PCOD ID=0.
5) Scroll down to the vicinity of address EFD8. You will see the sequence 0C6C 0001 370C 6722 302E 0014 4EAC.
6) Change the 6722 to 4E71.
7) Quit ResEdit, saving changes.
ALWAYSFRACT
===========
This init makes all applications start out with fractional widths. Some applications might turn them off, but this makes SuperSpool 5.0 print with fractional widths under Multifinder.
Just throw it into the System Folder.
